Charlestown Historic Brownstone

One of our most interesting project spaces to date! This gorgeous brownstone was recently purchased by a young couple with small children looking to breathe some new life into the space to make it feel like their own. Some of their challenges included creating different areas for the family vs. more adult entertaining, and working with the historic elements while weaving in some more modern touches.

A key goal was to highlight the charm of the space while working with some of it’s more unique design elements, like the existing painted master bedroom ceiling mural. While the couple considered painting it over, the cost to re-do the ceiling and destroy such a unique investment by the previous owner didn’t feel right. We worked to ensure the master bedroom met their style needs by adding mid-century inspired wood elements in the new chandelier and dressers for warmth, and tying in some of the ceiling color palette into the rest of our textile choices: Rose velvet drapery panels and bedding accents, and tones of gray for the rug, bench, and other accents.
